Guys, I can't move my leg! Like seriously I fell over on Friday night (all own fault, drunken idiot etc) and now I can't walk. Can't straighten my leg out and can barely put any weight on it, which at least is an improvement on yesterday when I could put no weight on it at all. This sucks an awful lot!

Anyway, luckily all I actually needed to do this weekend (although there were a few other things I wanted to do) is watch Merlin and Supernatural, ( onwards to some slightly spoliery thoughts about the shows... )

Life went a bit, um, wrong last week. But I felt up to doing reviews this week of Merlin and Supernatural, ( so click here for random squee and over thinky thoughts. )

This hugely cheered me up today, it's an entirely non-spoliery Merlin article on the Guardian website that's looking forward to the new season of Merlin and gently mocking the show at the same time. Click here for the article.

The paragraph that most amused me was this one: "Merlin isn't one of those shows where thousands of fanatics will dress up as the characters and meet in vast conference halls to discuss the minutiae of forgotten subplots."

Could anyone do me a quick beta on short Merlin/Arthur fic? It's a gift for someone and I'd like to be able to get it to them pretty quickly, so if anyone could take a look at it over the next few days that would be incredibly awesome of you!

It is very short, only a couple of thousand words and has Merlin being magical and beauitful and Arthur in the bath.

In real life news, god I'm tired. In very desperate need of the coming holiday I think. I also have a major presentation at work tomorrow which is somewhat scary. But on the plus side, oh the extreme prettiness of the Merlin cast! I watched the Mordred episode earlier, randomly as it isn't really one of my favorites, and got hit again by how much I love it. Oh roll on September!

Hi there flist

Would any American on my flist be able to spare a bit of time to beta my Renegade Angels Dean/Castiel story? It definitely will need the Britishism removing, I've tried to catch them but I'm sure I've missed some! It's almost my first Supernatural story, so someone familiar with the show would probably be best. It's about 6,200 words and I feel a suitable level of angst for a SPN story.

So...I get home from charity run and find my boyfriend in tears on the sofa. I drop my bags, run across the room and get a frantic, "DO NOT WATCH TORCHWOOD!" in response.

My boyfriend is not fannish. He does not even like Torchwood, the amount he has mocked Torchwood is, well, lets just say it's a lot.

WHAT THE FUCK HAS HAPPENED?????

I can't watch it now, because I'm out tomorrow night and if it's horribly tragic I can't watch episode four without seeing epiosde five and how it's been fixed straight after.

It is going to be fixed right?

Don't spoil me because I don't think I actually want to know but it must be really, really, really bad right?

So I've been thinking, which is always a dangerous move. It's been started by all the recent interest in the Star Trek reboot, Spock and Kirk were the original slash pairing right, back in the sixties, but that was forty years ago and how many other pairings have there been throughout the intervening years that have been virtually forgotten or lost?

It's sad because I bet people loved them passionately, created beautiful fic and art and now they've sort of slid from most people's thoughts.

It's not even just really old fandoms, Queer as Folk US was my, I suppose the show I most truly loved. The one that drew me back to writing and creating and it's so low key these days I'd go so far to say that the majority of people getting into fandom now would never even hear of it and that's fine, tastes move on, but I like the idea of it being recorded somewhere central that this show was really loved once, treasured.

So my idea, a livejournal community with the goal of recording every fandom that's ever been. With a summary of what it was, what the key pairings were, links to the classic fics if possible, and then in the comments on each post people can add their favorite stories, favorite moments.

But this kind of thing will need tonnes of contributors a high profile and much pimpage, so does anyone think it's a good idea? Would you be willing to pimp? Would you want to right an entry for a fandom?

I haven't decided whether it's worth the time and effort to do it yet, but I kind of want to...

Hi flist, my normal beta reader is internetless at the moment so I was wondering whether there might be anyone else out there who wouldn't mind taking a look at my latest story? It's a fluffy fic with romance, magic, idiocy and unfortunate match making. Hopefully it's vaguely funny. If there is such a one among you I would be extremely grateful! So on Monday I find out whether I'm being made redundant. If I am, then I'm out of a job by the end of March. And I'm just, well, gutted.

I want to post this whole spiel about the shitty circumstance and how fast its happened and how I actually like my job and I'm not quite ready for it to end yet. But for some stupid reason I can't bring myself to type that. I just want it on record, even if it's not a record anyone who works for my company will ever read, that this is absolutely gutting.

EDIT Today (Friday) we were told and to my intense surprise it wasn't me who was laid it off, it was my friend though and I feel awful for her. And relieved for me. And after this absolute arse of a week kind of an emotional wreck!

For anyone on my flist who loves Merlin and hasn't heard about this, the fabulous krazykipper is running Pendracon, a full blown Merlin convention, in July. Although it isn't for awhile it would probably be a big help to have some guaranteed money in the pot and you don't want to miss out on the chance of a ticket. All the details are here - I think it's going to be fantastic!

I have committed Merlin and Arthur fic and it has gone to my normal beta reader, who is completely, fabulous and I'm sure will do a wonderful job with it, but I'm basically, really unsure about it and feel it needs a third opinion. If anyone could spare half an hour to give it a read over that would be amazing.
